Promote Promote Promote

Okay now that you've decided to start your own business whether it be a store front or a online shop, here comes the fun part... PROMOTING!
First off I am not in any way an expert on the promoting of businesses I have not training.. I am merely throwing a few ideas out there that I have used, or will use in the future to promote my business. With that being said let's get down to the nitty gritty....  First you should have some professional business cards with ALL your information on them. You can get these done for a little of nothing by a Home Office Supply Store or do it yourself at home with a good Avery business card program. Spend a few extra bucks on a business card carrying case that way you always have your cards handy. You never know when or where the opprotunity may present its self to plug your business. Some places have cork boards hanging up to leave your business cards on or even fish bowels. Pin 'em up and drop 'em in! Take out a ad in your local paper it doesn't have to be huge, just big enough people will see it and not skip right over it. Some people advertise by putting their website on their car windows, nice ideas, but you have to be stopped for people to write the info down correctly. It's still a good idea along with a magnetic sign on your car... they can be easily removed and reapplied. If your a handmade crafter, Craft Shows/ bizarres are great! Networking is endless at these events..exchange business cards with the vendors are you, make sure to have business cards laid out randomly on your table for people to pick up. When you make a sale be sure to stick a card in the bag with their goodies. Word of mouth is by far the most powerful advertising bit there is out there. Bottom line you have to get out there and meet people and talk to get the ball rolling. Handmade Crafters should also get in touch with their local Library, sometimes they have space set aside to feature local Artists.
Internet advertising: Facebook fan page is a good start. Get involved with the Link Love on there as well. Your online venue forums are a good place to advertise, network with other business owners.
These are just what I can think of off the top of my head right now.. I am sure I will think of some more and pass them along to ya.

'til next time

Ladies Night Out Event

I have been invited to be a vendor at a event March 8th, 2011 at the Little America Grand Ballroom to bring awareness to Women Business Owners and also to be a fundraiser for the following  CLIMB Wyoming, Latina Youth Conference, Chrysalis House, and Safe House. The funds will also support multiple college scholarships for women in our community. This event has been going on for 5 years and every year it is growing and doing more good .It is by invitation only and the vendors are limited to 45. I am very honored to have been invited to be apart of such a worthy event.  The number of people who are attending is around 400, not counting us vendors.  Now that's a lot of people and potential business contacts. :o)

I encourage anyone who is serious about building her business to get involved with your local Small Business Groups, craft shows, school fund raisers. whatever. Every event is a chance to get your name and products out there for the public to see. Promotion is a must, it's hard work but one day it will be worth it. There are endless ways to promote.. which I will address in a future blog(soon).

Anyhow, I just wanted to share my news with y'all. I'm living proof that just when you think all the doors are nailed shut... the window is open. ;o)

'Til next we meet

New to blogging

Well here I go into the great unknown... Blogging! Talk about scary...  I'm not certain what is experience will be like but all I do know is it will be something new to add to the long lists of things i thought I would never do.

So if your here then I have published this blog publicly and am willing to bare my soul and whatever else for all to see...so to speak.
I have 4 online shops.. the links are posted on this blog page so feel free to click on them and check them out.
Sandman Creations is the non Jewelry items at this point it consists of cloth napkins/napkin rings(economical),the napkins are not your ordinary everyday ones found at the store. They are wild. bold, colorful and ooak(one of a kind). I also have beaded wine bottle corks, yes they can be used in other bottles. I also have economical wine glass charms, which can also be used on coffee mugs. These are gifts that can be used everyday of the year not just once a year or for one occasion. WOW! How cool is that. What are ya waitin' for go on go check it out for yourself.
I don't believe in overcharging people for quality products, like some people. Heck a hand shake is a binding deal to me. :o) After all your only as good as your word.
